Howdy, I'm Sam.
Finally, I've done the thing I told myself I should do a year or so ago: I took my github.io page and made it a place to connect all my portfolios, and it took hardly any time at all. Like all things in life, the largest barrier is yourself.
So, as of now, there's still some work to do. I've gotten my formatting in a place where I like it, the mobile view of this site is fine, I've added pretty much all of my sites and made them tidy. What's left is overhauling my old DeviantArt page and adding more recent photos, updating my LinkedIn with some recent projects, and setting up my Medium blog account.
Hey, I have all these other accounts, so what's the point of this site? Well,
- I want a place that ties together all the different accounts so that I only have to send people to one place to find everything
- For a lot of the portfolio stuff (blog posts, sketches etc.) I wanted a place to mirror them so that I also have the content here
- I want to start doing a weekly summary sort of thing (or, really, a “here’s what I’ve done since the last time I posted” summary) so that I can have some time to reflect on what I’ve done and get a chance to criticize whatever I worked on that week and chronicle what I’ve done and when I did it
That's really all. I have this site as a log of my life represented by my creations and thoughts/feelings that I'm willing to share online. Maybe I'll actually blog frequently, who knows. Regardless, I really do want to regularly utilize this site and not let it get stale. If anything, it'll be practice in keeping up with a single project over a long period of time.
I think that, inevitably, I'll fail, but for now, I'm happy with this and looking forward to posting :)
